Excellent Fried Chicken with Spicy Honey Drizzle and Garlic Potatoes

Serves 4-6

For the crispy chicken:

  1. Place the chicken stock into a medium sized sauce pan on a medium to high heat. Once boiling, add in the chicken portions and allow to boil for 10 to 12 minutes.
  2. Remove the chicken from the stock and drain – allow resting for 10 minutes.
  3. Coat the chicken in the beaten egg and then toss in a bowl with the Southern Fried Chicken coating.
  4. Deep fry the chicken for 6 to 8 minutes until golden and crispy.

For the drizzle:

  1. Mix together all drizzle ingredients in a bowl until combine.


Plate your crispy chicken together with the roasted garlic potatoes and drizzle with the spicy honey coating.


  • 900g Excellent Meat Chicken Portions A Grade
  • 1.5L Chicken stock
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 x Hinds Southern Fried Chicken coating (available at your local Excellent Meat store)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Excellent Garlic potatoes, roasted for 30 minutes (180⁰C)


  • ½ cup / 125ml Honey
  • 1 tbls / 15ml water
  • 1 chilli, chopped
  • 15ml Garlic, crushed (available at your local Excellent Meat store)
