Excellent Chilli Con Carne with Mixed Potato Wedge Dippers

Main course. Serves 4.

Preheat the oven to 200˚C.

Brown the onions and garlic until translucent.

Add spices and cook. Add Excellent Lean Steak Mince and season with salt and pepper.

Add tomato paste, tomatoes and beans and stock – Simmer for 30 minutes.

In a roasting pan, add oil and seasoning to oven for 40 minutes or until golden and crisp.

Mix together your yoghurt, cucumber and garlic.

Serve your Excellent Chilli Con Carne in a bowl with your yoghurt and wedges as garnish.


  • 60 ml Canola oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 5 ml ground cumin
  • 5 ml ground coriander
  • 5 ml cayenne pepper
  • 10 – 15 ml dried chilli flakes
  • 500 g Excellent Meat Lean steak mince
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 sachet of tomato paste
  • 1 can whole, peeled tomatoes
  • 2 can mixed beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 x sweet potatoes cut into wedges – scrubbed and skin on
  • 2 x normal potatoes cut into wedges – scrubbed and skin on
  • Yoghurt
  • Cucumber, grated
  • Garlic, crushed
