Excellent Beef and Vegetable Potjie

Serves 4-6

  1. Heat the oil in your pot and brown Excellent Stewing Beef (Class A) and onions until brown.
  2. Add your soya sauce, beef stock cube and dry spices into the pot.
  3. Stir well, cover with the lid and simmer for 1.5 hours
  4. Toss in your Potjiekos veggie pack and tomatoes along with your water.
  5. Cover with the lid and allow the pot to simmer for about 2 hours or until the veggies are done.
  6. Serve with rice or freshly baked bread!


  • 900g Excellent Stewing Beef (Class A)
  • 2 Medium onions, sliced
  • 500g Vegetable Potjiekos pack (available at Excellent Meat Market stores)
  • 4 Medium potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 1 Tomato, peeled and sliced
  • 30 ml Dried parsley
  • 30 ml Cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 125 ml Soya sauce
  • 5 ml Black pepper
  • 3 ml Dry mustard
  • 1 ml Dry rosemary
  • 1 ml Dry thyme
  • 1 Cube beef stock
  • 500 ml Boiling water
